All the mirthful and the incongruent pictures included in MATTER (90 of each category) were selected from the web. In addition, we added 27 disgusting, 19 erotic, and 18 fearful scenes also selected from internet. By clicking bellow in the button labelled as “Complete List of MATTER Pictures” you can check the complete list of the 244 MATTER pictures selected from internet. Detailed information about the source of each individual picture is available at the bottom of this page within one of five groups that have been organized according to each picture code and emotional category.
For the standardization of the current database, please have in mind that text and comments included in some of the pictures selected from internet (N = 244) were removed to leave only the pictorial aspects. All pictures were resized (1024 x 768 pixels), and black borders were added to some stimuli to achieve this specific picture size before the validation of the images.
