Rocío Pérez de Prado received the M.S. degree in Telecommunication Engineering from University of Seville, Seville, Spain, in 2008 and the PhD degree in Telecommunication Engineering with European Mention from University of Jaén, Jaén, Spain, in 2011. From 2009 to 2011 she works full-time on a research project in the field of Grid Computing at the University of Jaén. In 2011 she joined the Signal Theory and Communications Area in the Telecommunication Engineering Department at the University of Jaén as a deputy professor, becoming Assistant Professor (Ayudante Doctor) in February 2016 and Associate Professor (Contratada Doctor) in July 2016. Since July 2015, she has been accredited by ANECA as Associate Professor Civil Servant (Titular de Universidad) in the area of Signal Theory and Communications, reaching this professional category at the University of Jaén in November 2019. Dr. Prado is a specialist in the area of Soft-Computing within Artificial Intelligence, distributed computing systems (Grid, Cloud and Fog Computing) and optical technologies, and develops her teaching and research in these areas. Since 2021 she has been recognized as IEEE Senior Member.
Dr. Prado currently teaches in the Engineering Degree of Telecommunications Technologies, Degree in Telematics Engineering, Bilingual Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Master's Degree in Connected Industry and Master's Degree in Materials and Sustainable Construction and participates in the Doctoral Program in Advances in Materials Engineering and Sustainable Energies under which he currently supervises diverse doctoral theses. Also, she has supervised 18 bachelor and master theses. Dr. Prado is the author of 13 educational publications, 3 books, has participated in 7 educational innovation projects (currently coordinating one of them) and 3 projects to promote entrepreneurial culture at the University of Jaén in the field of Telecommunications Engineering. In the two academic years 2017-2018 and 2018-2019, she has received the Recognition from the University of Jaén for Good Teaching Practices Perceived by Students. She has been recognized 1 teaching quinquennium (2011-2016).
As for the research facet, she belongs to the Research Group "Signal Processing in Telecommunication Systems" (TIC188) of the University of Jaén. She is the author of 26 papers in journals indexed in Journal Citation Reports (JCR), 8 of them belonging to Q1 and 9 to Q2, as well as 20 presentations at international conferences (8 included in CORE rank and IEEE conferences), book chapters and other international journals. Since 2020 she has been an external evaluator and member of diverse final selection committees for the European Commission and the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FONDECYT), National Council of Science, Technology and Technological Innovation (CONCYTEC), Peru. She is editor of the journals indexed in JCR Applied Soft Computing (Q1) since 2014, Energies (Q3) since 2020 and topic editor in Sensors (Q1) since 2020. In addition, she has been lead guest editor in Special Issues for Sensors, Multimedia Tools and Applications, Soft Computing Letters, Electronics and Energies. Dr. R.P. Prado has also participated as Organizing Committee Member at the Global Summit on Electronics & Electrical Engineering (GSEEE2021), as well as Technical Committee Chair in International Conference on Distributed Computing and Optimization Techniques (ICDCOT2021) and Track Chair at the IEEE MysuruCon 2021. She has also reviewed papers for more than 40 journals indexed in JCR in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Cloud/Grid Computing such as IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems and IEEE Internet of Things. In addition, she has participated in the scientific committees in more than 50 international congresses such as IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems in 2019, 2020 and 2021 editions. In the years 2017, 2018 and 2019 she has received a recognition of Publons-Clarivate Analytics, as an outstanding reviewer. In 2010 she carried out a 5-month stay at the Technical University of Dortmund in the Department of Control and Systems Engineering, Germany. Likewise, she has participated in 4 national research projects, 5 Andalusian regional research projects, 2 research projects of the University of Jaén, 1 research transfer contract from the Office for the Transfer of Research Results of the University of Jaén, and 1 transfer contract with Revinclassic S.L. She has been recognized 1 six-year period of research (2009-2015) and 2 sections of regional supplements.
